what a way to the weekend

February 6, 2009

well tonight should certainly be a party… it depends what you’re in the mood for, but boy does the city have it all. i’m not yet sure what i’m going to be doing, so i’m keeping my options open. here are some thoughts:

meet the artist at kidrobot. not only will there be some great beats, drinks, and food, but also a special sale going on. it’s from 6-8pm at their spot in soho.

eastern european nights at bungalo in astoria. there’s happy hour from 5-10pm, with great prices on drinks, as well as a free open bar with grey goose from 9-10pm if you say “east” or “randolf” at the door. after 10, there’s a free drink when you pay in. sometimes it’s nice to get out of manhattan. for the address and more information, look here.

for the underage/hip-hop crowd, there’s something going down at le poisson rouge. it’s 18+ so you don’t have to worry about your out of town friends who don’t have ID, and cassidy will be appearing at some point. rsvp to manhattannightlife (at) gmail.com or say alex g’s list at the door for reduced or free admission. it’s from 10pm-4am.

the annex is always hopping, and this weekend is ruff club. there’s going to a be a live appearance by tv baby, as well as numerous dj’s along the lines of joseph q, javi estalella, japanster, 24court and denny lenimh. it’s from 10pm-4am.

finally, it’s girls & boys at webster hall. from 10pm-5am, we’ll be graced by appearances by folks such as danger, one man party, alex english and afrika bambaataa. in the studiodj jess and dj alex malfunction will be spinning. get reduced admission by putting yourself on the guestlist.

on saturday, i may take it easy, but if not, you’ll find me at the brooklyn museum‘s first saturday. this month, it’s wikipedia loves art. from 5-11pm, there’s everything from music, to film, to discussion, and many of the collections are open as well. the event is free, and always amazing (and a repeat, every month). also, there’s always an after party, just look for someone in the know.

see you around, and have a great weekend!
